L4D2 Boycott Lulz

Silly Boycotters

Preface:
As many people know, when Valve announced that Left 4 Dead 2 would be released one year after the release of the original Left 4 Dead, there was a huge uprising of unhappy fans. They felt they were being cheated after not having received much content and then not expecting any, figuring that Valve's time would be spend on the new game. For some reason, these fans whom had already bought L4D became unsatisfied post-purchase, solely because of the announcement of a new game.

Many of these unhappy fans joined a Steam community group, called "L4D2 Boycott", threatening to not buy the new game, L4D2 when it was released.

Here we are today, without the game even having been released yet, and many of these people have already gone back on their word. Maybe they realized they were being unreasonable. Maybe they realized that L4D was still a good game, even if not up to what they feel Valve's standard are. Maybe they realized that L4D2 is going to be even better and it's just a few new characters, maps, and weapons.

Either way, I have decided to track the 41,440 users that were in this group as of earlier today (2009-10-07 18:00 GMT). Let's see how they do. Let's see how many of their brains the zombies will eat, pulling them away from their strong "beliefs". ;)
